Valerie Jennings has been interested in mindfulness, positive psychology and the components of human flourishing for many years. She started practicing meditation in 2011 during a retreat at Shambhala Mountain Center in the beautiful Rocky Mountains of Colorado. She has spent countless hours on the cushion, initially and often in the Buddhist Vipassana tradition and more recently in the secular traditions of Jon Kabat-Zinn and Mark Williams. She recently completed training to become a certified MBSR (Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction) teacher. Alongside meditation, she is curious about the formation of habits and belief systems, and how we can disrupt and reconstruct those which don’t serve us well. Other subjects of interest include: the cultivation of self-love and connection as an antidote to shame, bringing mindfulness to end-of-life care, the nature and origins of consciousness and the burgeoning field of psychedelic-assisted therapy. Originally from the US, she has lived in Antwerp since 2018 with her Belgian partner. |
